Currently offering Telehealth services for all my clients

Fallon Family Counseling provides counseling to children age 5 and over and their families struggling with mental health issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment, behavioral and social issues, coping skills, separation/divorce, adjustment disorders and involvement with DCYF/DJJS.

I specialize in working with children and families struggling with anxiety, depression, and trauma.  I am trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and I completed an 18 month training in Child Parent Psychotherapy for children ages 0-6 in 2022, as well as pursuing a certificate in Child and Adolescent Anxiety in 2020, with a focus on using Exposure Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to tackle the behavioral and emotional challenges that parents experience everyday trying to help their child be their best.

The counseling experience looks different for each family and will be determined on a case by case basis. For instance, younger children will likely be accompanied by an adult to learn and incorporate new skills into their homes. Older children may need time without parents, and families may need time where no children are present to provide the most benefit.

What to expect from Counseling

Empathize. Educate. Encourage. Empower.
In the first session you can expect to share what you hope to get from counseling, what is causing the current difficulty and what has been tried so far.  Most importantly, you should expect to be supported, heard and understood. Lastly, we will determine goals for our time together so we will be able to know when counseling is complete.
While you may not be able to control all the circumstances or experiences that bring you to counseling, you can control your response to the them. Therefore, it is important to learn coping skills,  raise self-awareness, and notice behavioral patterns to manage symptoms  so you can be proactive rather than reactive.
The goal of counseling is to make a change, right? That's why you come! To do that we will likely make lots of changes both big and small. We will develop plans for children and families, practice skills and work until we can reach our goals.
